Welcome to MATi Inclusion School – Where Innovation Meets Inclusion

Launched in October 2023, MATi Inclusion School is not just a virtual school – it’s a bold, future-facing movement within our Trust, redefining what inclusive education looks like in the 21st century.

At MATi, we’re not waiting for change – we’re leading it. As a pioneering virtual hub for inclusion, MATi is transforming the way we support young people who thrive outside the bounds of traditional education. We’re creating space for every learner to shine, no matter their starting point.

What Makes MATi Exceptional?

  • Innovative, personalised learning that adapts to each student’s unique needs and aspirations.
  • A Trust-wide impact, supporting schools across our network to embed inclusive practices that work.
  • A student-first philosophy, where every decision is rooted in what’s best for the child.
  • Empowerment through education, helping students overcome barriers, unlock their potential, and build futures filled with promise.

In a world where education must evolve to meet the needs of every learner, MATi is leading the way – blending creativity, compassion, and cutting-edge practice to ensure no child is left behind.

MATi Inclusion School: Reimagining education. Restoring confidence. Releasing potential.

What We Offer?

RESTORE

Our Restore model aims to be the restoration of trust and connection people and learning.  Our core offer is:

  • Support on site at each of our Secondary schools to meet with CYP through a mentoring offer.
  • Program planning, implementation and facilities with schools to work with small groups of CYP, in the short term, fostering meaningful connection and re-engagement with the educational process.
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)/Neurodiverse/observations followed by a brief report to the school with recommendations to help support the CYP.  Staff training to small groups or whole staff.
  • Staff training to ensure all CYP access Pupil Support Plans through effective practice.

RESET – Restoring Focus, Rebuilding Behaviour

RESET is a responsive, short-term intervention model designed to provide a constructive alternative to internal exclusion across our Trust’s secondary schools. This innovative approach offers young people a fresh start in a new environment, helping them reflect, reset, and re-engage with their learning.

When a student requires a behavioural intervention, they are placed in a different school within the Trust for a period of 1 to 5 days. This temporary relocation is carefully managed and tracked by MATi core staff, ensuring consistency, safeguarding, and a clear reintegration pathway.

Key features of the RESET model:

  •  Offsite placement in another Trust school to remove immediate triggers and provide a neutral space for reflection.
  • Structured support including behaviour coaching, restorative conversations, and targeted mentoring.
  • Reintegration planning to ensure a smooth return to the home school, with strategies in place to support sustained improvement.
  • Centralised tracking by MATi staff to monitor progress, identify patterns, and ensure accountability.

RESET is not a punishment – it’s a purposeful pause. It’s about giving students the space and support they need to reset their mindset, rebuild relationships, and return ready to succeed.

REDIRECT – Reframing Behaviour, Rebuilding Pathways

REDIRECT is a structured, medium-term intervention model developed by MATi to provide young people with a fresh educational environment and the opportunity to reset their trajectory. Designed for placements of 6 or 12 weeks, this model offers a proactive alternative to permanent exclusion or prolonged internal sanctions.

Through off-site direction to another school within the Trust, students are supported in a new setting where expectations are clear, relationships are rebuilt, and behaviour is positively reframed. Each placement is carefully planned and monitored by MATi core staff, ensuring alignment with safeguarding, curriculum continuity, and reintegration goals.

Key elements of the REDIRECT model:

  • Alternative placement in a Trust school that offers a fresh start while maintaining high expectations and consistent routines.
  • Personalised support plans including mentoring, therapeutic input, and academic tracking to address both behavioural and learning needs.
  • Reintegration strategy co-developed with the home school to ensure a successful return or transition to a more suitable provision.
  • Impact monitoring led by MATi to evaluate progress, identify barriers, and ensure sustained improvement.
  • Fortnightly reviews to ensure voice of CYP and parents/ carers are heard.

REDIRECT is not just a change of setting, it’s a carefully designed opportunity for young people to reflect, refocus, and re-engage with their education in a meaningful and supported way.

RESTART – Reimagining Engagement, Rebuilding Futures

Launched in September 2024, RESTART is a bold and innovative Alternative Provision programme developed by MATi to re-engage young people who find traditional academic pathways challenging. Delivered across our Trust’s secondary schools, RESTART is a testament to the power of creativity, collaboration, and inclusion in transforming student outcomes.

Each school offers a bespoke programme, designed and led by dedicated programme tutors and MATi Leads, who bring passion, expertise, and a deep understanding of learner needs. With two places available per school, RESTART provides a focused, high-impact intervention that supports students in reconnecting with their education and developing the skills, confidence, and behaviours needed for long-term success.

Key features of RESTART:

  • Personalised, practical curriculum tailored to student interests and strengths.
  • Strong pastoral support embedded within each programme to nurture wellbeing and resilience.
  • Proven impact in reducing exclusion rates and improving behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
  • Inclusive ethos that values every learner and creates space for growth, reflection, and reintegration.

RESTART is more than an intervention, it’s a lifeline. It offers young people a second chance to thrive in an environment that sees their potential and supports their journey every step of the way.

Return

RETURN – Rebuilding Routines, Restoring Readiness

RETURN is a carefully structured reintegration model developed by MATi to support young people in transitioning back into full-time education following a period of absence, intervention, or alternative provision.

Led by a dedicated member of the MATi core team, RETURN ensures that every reintegration is planned, personalised, and purposeful. Working in close collaboration with the home school’s MATi link, parents/carers, and where appropriate, external professionals, the model supports a smooth and sustainable return to learning – whether that’s in the student’s original setting, a new direction placement, or a specialist provision.

Key components of the RETURN model:

  • Individualised reintegration plans tailored to the student’s needs, strengths, and context.
  • Collaborative planning involving school staff, families, and MATi professionals to ensure shared ownership and clarity of expectations.
  • Ongoing support and monitoring to build confidence, restore routines, and address barriers to engagement.
  • Clear pathways to ensure students are not just returning but re-engaging with purpose and support.

RETURN is more than a transition, it’s a bridge back to belonging, learning, and success.

As a parent, one of the questions that’s always been at the back of my mind is, what if my child struggles when they move into secondary school? 💛

Watching this short animation really reassured me. Across the Marches Academy Trust, there is a strong, joined‑up support system in place to help every child feel safe, supported and able to succeed.

From the support built into everyday mainstream lessons, through to more personalised help and full interventions when needed, children are never left to struggle alone. The Learning for Life framework means staff know the children well and can put the right support in place at the right time.

It’s comforting to know that whether a child needs a little extra help, targeted support, or more specialist intervention, there is a clear pathway and a team around them every step of the way 🌱

If you’re a parent wondering what support looks like as your child grows and transitions through school, this is well worth a watch.
