With over a decade of senior leadership and more than five years as a Headteacher within the Marches Academy Trust, Julie Johnson brings a powerful blend of strategic insight, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her role as Headteacher of MATi Inclusion School.
Julie’s leadership is deeply rooted in her expertise in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Safeguarding. As a former SENDCo and Designated Safeguarding Lead, she has led Trust-wide initiatives that place the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of every child at the heart of school improvement. Her work ensures that MATi Outreach Services are not only innovative but also grounded in the life experiences of the children and families they serve.
Beyond MATi, Julie plays a pivotal role in shaping inclusive education across Shropshire. As Senior Lead for the SEND and Alternative Provision Change Programme at Shropshire Council, she collaborates with the Department for Education to pilot transformative approaches to support vulnerable learners. She also serves as a Headteacher Coach for the development of the Early Help system, strengthening the safety net for children across the county.
Julie’s passion is clear: to ensure that every child – regardless of background, need, or circumstance has access to a high-quality, personalised education in a safe and nurturing environment. Her leadership is not only strategic but deeply human, driven by a belief in the potential of every learner.
