Meet Bob

Bob first joined the Local Governing Body at Sir John Talbot’s School as a Parent Governor, prior to the school becoming part of the Marches Academy Trust. He served as Chair for several years before being invited to take on the role of Trustee. Throughout the time his two children attended the school, Bob has remained deeply involved, forging links with the local Rotary and supporting numerous community events, including the Whitchurch 10k.

He has also played a key role in enabling the use of Sir John Talbot’s School facilities to provide Christmas lunches for local families – meals cooked and delivered by members and friends of Whitchurch Rotary.

I love encouraging the opportunities for the local CYP which is greatly enhanced by being part of the Trust. The cross Trust events and activities along with sharing best practice enhances the lives of all CYP and their families.

About Bob

Bob began his career as a secondary school teacher, dedicating 34 years to education and culminating as Headteacher at Corbet Secondary School. Following his retirement from headship, he took on a consultancy role with Shropshire Council, supporting school improvement across both primary and secondary schools in the county.

Bob has been actively involved in many aspects of local community life within our Trust, particularly in Whitchurch, through his work with the local Rugby Club and Rotary. A passionate collaborator, Bob is committed to bringing people together to create and enhance opportunities for families.

His connection to Sir John Talbot’s School runs deep, with both his wife and children being part of the school community as a teacher and students respectively.
